Our client is a leading provider of mixing services & aggregates. They are currently looking for a Transport Manager at their site in Cambridge.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a thorough understanding of transport management, ensuring the efficient and effective movement of goods. This role is crucial in maintaining high standards of service while optimising operational processes.

Key Accountabilities :

  • Take the key role in providing administrative support to the Managing Director in Transport-related activities within the organisation
  • To respond quickly to support the MD to manage planned and unplanned vehicle maintenance and notifying Drivers/Fitters/External Workshop staff to ensure they happen in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring transport staff deliver the service appropriate to the changing needs of customers in line with relevant guidance and individual risk assessments
  • To work as a member of the management team, undertaking delegated tasks and responsibilities in line with the emerging needs and operational requirements of the service, including where necessary the contracting out of transport provision to other transport provider.
  • To promote the requirements of the FORS Standard as they relate to our organisation
  • To ensure high standards of service delivery through the consistent application of recognised standards and established policies, procedures and practices
  • To work in a safe and effective manner at all times
  • To undertake any other duties related to the responsibilities of the post and which may be delegated by the Directors of the organisation

The Ideal Person for the Transport Manager role:

  • CPC qualified
  • Experience in a similar role and environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be able to demonstrate ability to cope in challenging situations
  • Work accurately with good attention to detail
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Dedication to customer service and to getting things right the first time
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a great attitude and the honesty and integrity to admit when things go wrong.
  • Ability to assess difficult situations and self-manage them.
