About the Role:


We are looking for a compassionate and skilled British Sign Language - Level 3 qualified people to join our dedicated team at a specialist provision supporting pupils with complex needs. In this rewarding role, you will work one-to-one with a pupil who requires communication assistance to access learning and fully participate in school life.

The young person will be transitioning from mainstream into a specialised school setting, they communicate with BSL (British Sign Language) & SSE (Sign Supported English), the 1:1 also has ASD & Sensory Processing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent one-to-one communication support to a pupil with special educational needs.

  • Use BSL tailored to the pupil’s individual needs.

  • Work closely with class teachers, therapists, and other professionals to support the pupil’s educational and emotional development.

  • Encourage independence, social interaction, and confidence in the learning environment.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly in a school or care setting.

  • Knowledge of communication systems such as Makaton, BSL, PECS, or AAC (training can be provided).

  • Patient, nurturing, and adaptable, with a strong commitment to inclusive education.

  • A team player who is confident in following directions but also proactive in supporting pupil engagement.

  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, or willingness to obtain one.
