Job Title: Design Engineer / Estimator
Job Type: Full time/Permanent
Salary: 30,000 - 35,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Location: Lympne , Kent
We are looking for a creative and technically skilled Design Engineer / Estimator to join a team developing high-quality, bespoke products, this role blends product design with commercial estimating.
Key responsibilities
- Lead concept and detail design for new products, elevating them from equipment to furniture through considered form, materials and finishes
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, bills of materials and quotes for bespoke and custom projects
- Collaborate with sales, project management, production and suppliers to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective and meet client requirements
- Specify materials, finishes and fixtures with attention to aesthetics, durability and cost
- Maintain design documentation, change control and costing records to support project delivery and profitability
Essential skills and experience
- Proven experience in product design or as a Design Engineer
- Strong CAD skills with the ability to produce detailed drawings and 3D models
- Good understanding of materials, joinery/fabrication techniques
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills and the ability to balance aesthetics with manufacturability and cost
- Strong communication skills and experience working directly with clients, suppliers and production teams
