Job Title: SEND English Teacher
Location: Southampton
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: £120 - £190 per day
Are you a passionate and experienced English Teacher ready to make a real difference in the lives of young people with complex needs? TeacherActive is working in partnership with a highly respected independent SEN school on the outskirts of Southampton to recruit an English Teacher who is dedicated, flexible, and ready to join a caring and committed team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a small, nurturing school with excellent facilities. The provision is tailored for students with ASD, attachment difficulties, SEMH needs, and challenging behaviours, and offers extremely small class sizes and a high staff-to-student ratio.
Role Details:
- Planning and delivering engaging English lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Supporting students with a range of SEN, including emotional and behavioural needs
- Working closely with a multidisciplinary team to create a bespoke educational experience
- Using Team Teach strategies to support students when necessary (training provided)
- Encouraging motivation, independence and confidence in all learners
What We’re Looking For:
- QTS or equivalent with proven teaching experience
- A genuine interest in working within an SEN setting
- Strong communication skills and a calm, adaptable approach
- Passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable and at-risk learners
- A reflective practitioner committed to professional growth
- Full UK driving licence – desirable
