As a Payroll & Finance Administrator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of payroll and financial processes across the trust. Working closely with the Finance and HR teams, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, as well as assisting with financial administration tasks. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their expertise within a structured and well-supported finance department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll for teaching and support staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payroll regulations.
  • Maintain employee payroll records, including starters, leavers, and changes to contracts.
  • Process statutory payments, including SSP, SMP, and SPP, and ensure compliance with pension contributions.
  • Assist in reconciling payroll and pension data, preparing reports, and liaising with external providers.
  • Support the finance team with transactional finance duties such as invoicing, reconciliations, and budget monitoring.
  • Assist with year-end processes, including P60s, P45s, and reporting.
  • Respond to payroll and finance queries from staff and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data security in line with GDPR regulations.

What They Are Looking For

  • Previous experience in payroll processing, preferably within the education or public sector.
  • A good understanding of payroll legislation, including tax, NI, and pensions.
  • Experience with finance administration, including invoicing and reconciliations.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Proficiency in payroll and finance software (experience with iTrent or PS Financials is advantageous but not essential).
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn new systems and processes.
