About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Chef Manager to lead the catering operation in a busy and forward-thinking secondary & sixth form setting. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a high-volume school kitchen, ensuring students receive nutritious, freshly prepared meals that support their health, wellbeing, and academic achievement.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and a genuine passion for food and service in an educational environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality meals in line with school food standards.

  • Manage and lead a team of catering staff, ensuring a positive, supportive working environment.

  • Oversee breakfast and lunch services, maintaining consistency, presentation, and portion control.

  • Ensure compliance with all food hygiene, allergen management, and health & safety regulations.

  • Manage stock control, ordering, and budgets efficiently while maintaining quality.

  • Work closely with school leadership to accommodate dietary needs, themed menus, and special events.

  • Promote sustainable food practices, minimising waste wherever possible.

  • Keep accurate records, including allergen and safety documentation.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has proven experience managing high-volume catering operations (ideally in schools or similar settings).

  • Holds relevant qualifications such as Level 3 Food Safety and Health & Safety training.

  • Demonstrates excellent leadership and people-management skills.

  • Is highly organised, proactive, and resilient under pressure.

  • Has a genuine passion for food, nutrition, and student wellbeing.
