School Caretaker

Redbridge

Part-Time (term time + some holiday hours)

13-15 per hour (depending on experience)

Veritas Education is partnering with a welcoming and well-maintained primary school in Redbridge seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join their team on a part-time basis. This position plays an important role in keeping the school safe, secure, and well-maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors alike.


Key Responsibilities for School Caretaker include:

  • Opening and/or securing the school premises in line with the shift schedule
  • Performing general maintenance, minor repairs, and basic DIY tasks
  • Maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and presentation of the school site
  • Conducting routine health and safety checks and reporting any concerns
  • Assisting with deliveries, moving furniture, and setting up classrooms or halls
  • Coordinating with external contractors when required

Hours of Work:

  • Part-time role (approximately 15-20 hours per week)
  • Flexible working pattern - may include early mornings or late afternoons
  • Occasional extra hours during school holidays for maintenance or deep cleaning tasks

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience in caretaking, maintenance, or facilities work (preferably in a school or similar environment)
  • Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently
  • Practical DIY ability and good knowledge of health and safety practices
  • Be physically fit and able to carry out manual and maintenance tasks
  • Holds or is willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service)
