About the Opportunity

SearchTech is supporting a leading organisation in the recycling and industrial processing sector as they continue to expand their UK engineering workforce. We are now seeking experienced Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance Technicians to join their high-performing team at a modern Materials Recycling Facility.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive, hands-on engineer looking to further develop within a fast-paced, highly automated environment. You will play a key role in maximising equipment uptime, supporting continuous improvement and ensuring safe and efficient operation of plant assets.

Role Responsibilities

Electrical Focus with Mechanical Support:

  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance activities safely and in line with maintenance strategies

  • Respond to breakdowns, faults and reactive work, ensuring minimal disruption to operations

  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults and implement effective corrective actions

  • Support improvements, upgrades and modification projects to enhance plant reliability

  • Complete risk assessments to maintain safe working practices at all times

  • Ensure all engineering documentation, reports and shift logs are completed to required standards

  • Provide accurate technical feedback to operational leadership for decision-making

  • Assist with equipment installations, refurbishments, commissioning and project work

  • Maintain and update maintenance systems including CMMS records

  • Participate in problem-solving sessions such as RCA workshops and continuous improvement meetings

  • Attend daily engineering and operational reviews, reporting on maintenance compliance and progress

What We’re Looking For
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electro-technical Installations, Electrotechnical Systems & Equipment, or equivalent

  • Experience within a recycling, manufacturing, food, waste processing, aggregates, industrial engineering, or similar environment

  • Strong understanding of CMMS, maintenance planning and compliance

  • Proven experience with both reactive and preventive maintenance activities

  • Ability to work logically under pressure and troubleshoot effectively

  • Strong communication and reporting capability
