Health & Safety and Environment Manager
Location: South East London (Sydenham & Orpington sites with travel to charity shop locations, currently 24 sites)
Reports to: Head of Estates and Site Services
Salary: £55,371 per annum, 36 hours per week
About the Role:
A leading provider of palliative care is seeking a skilled and dedicated Health, Safety, and Environment Manager to join the team. The position plays a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental well-being of staff, patients, visitors, and operations. This role is responsible for overseeing the implementation of health and safety practices across multiple sites and monitoring the environmental impact, working towards enhancing sustainability across the organization.
Primary Job Purpose:
The Health & Safety and Environment Manager is responsible for managing the organizations health and safety initiatives and overseeing its environmental sustainability efforts. You will implement policies and practices that ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. This includes both healthcare sites and charity shop locations across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert advice and support on Health and Safety to all levels of the organization
Ensure the implementation of policies and procedures that create a safe environment for employees, patients, and visitors
Assist in the monitoring and reduction of environmental impact, recommending and overseeing sustainable practices
Conduct or coordinate regular health and safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across all sites
Collaborate with other departments, including clinical staff, to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices
Develop and deliver training programs on health and safety to staff
Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and trends to maintain compliance and a proactive approach
Skills and Experience:
In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and environmental management
Experience in health and safety or environmental roles, ideally within healthcare or multi-site settings
Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Relevant qualifications in Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) and/or Environmental Management
