Summary
This role delivers planned and reactive water treatment services across several residential estates in East London. The business manages a portfolio of properties, taking care of all hard services including plant rooms, pumps, heating, cooling, and water systems, while specialist services such as lifts are contracted out. They focus on maintaining safe, reliable, and fully operational estates for residents, combining proactive maintenance with responsive support. The Water Treatment Specialist will play a key role in ensuring water systems are safe, efficient, and compliant, carrying out sampling, analysis, disinfection, and remedial dosing as required. The engineering team is hands-on, supportive, and values practical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving. The role offers opportunities for development and career progression, providing motivated individuals with the chance to grow into senior technical or supervisory positions while making a tangible difference across the estate portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine sampling across domestic hot and cold-water systems including temperature checks, microbiological sampling, and recording results in accordance with compliance procedures.
- Perform closed system sampling tasks on heating and chilled water circuits, analysing inhibitor levels, corrosion indicators, and water quality performance.
- Carry out full tank cleaning and disinfection of boosted cold-water storage tanks including isolation, draining, physical cleaning, disinfection dosing, and safe return to service.
- Deliver remedial actions following sample results, including chemical dosing of domestic and closed systems to restore correct water chemistry and reduce the risk of microbiological growth or corrosion.
- Undertake planned preventative maintenance on water systems such as vessel inspections, TMV flushing, temperature profiling, and reviewing system condition during site visits.
- Assist the wider engineering team in identifying non-compliant pipework, poorly performing assets, or areas requiring system improvement.
- Maintain accurate and clear records of all sampling, results, dosing work, and remedial activity to support audit requirements and regulatory compliance.
- Raise any immediate system risks including high readings, contamination concerns or evidence of stagnation to the engineering management team without delay.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to water hygiene, system resilience, and long-term asset care across the estate portfolio.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and professionally, observing access processes, isolation procedures and site-specific requirements within occupied residential buildings.
Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in water treatment, water hygiene or closed system maintenance within a commercial or residential environment.
- Strong understanding of sampling processes, chemical dosing, disinfection techniques, and the operational behaviour of domestic and closed-loop systems.
- Confident communicator with accurate record-keeping skills and a methodical approach to field-based technical work.
