As an Occupational Therapist you will support inclusive education by enabling students to access the curriculum and school environment. By contributing to the service development, supervision and continuous professional development.
The Role:
To assess and treat students with complex physical, sensory and functional needs
Use evidence based clinical reasoning to plan implement and evaluate interventions
Prescribe and arrange provision of specialist equipment and adaptations
Monitor and modify treatment plans to ensure effectiveness
Maintain accurate clinical records and reports for EHCP reviews
You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and multi-disciplinary teams
Provide training and advice to school staff on sensory integration, motor skills, and classroom adaptions
Participate in EHCP meetings and contribute to goal setting
Promote universal and targeted interventions to support participation for all students
Advise on environmental modifications to make classrooms and school spaces accessible
Support whole school approaches for sensory friendly environments and inclusion.
Essential requirements for the role:
BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
HCPC registration
Experience working with children and young people with SEND (autism, PMLD, SLD)
Excellent knowledge of sensory integration, motor development, and inclusive education strategies
Excellent communication skills
You will require a fully enhanced DBS for the role and be able to provide references that will reflect your skills and experience.
