About the role:

• We are recruiting an experienced Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist to support our children and young people’s residential homes across London & Essex.
• We provide residential therapeutic care to children and young people aged between eight and seventeen years old who have either a learning disability and / or complex emotional and behavioural difficulties.
• As our Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist, you will be a key factor in helping us to deliver high quality therapeutic care to our children and young people.
• You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and receive a competitive salary based on your experience and qualifications. Travel between our homes based in London and Essex will be a requirement, therefore applicants must have access to their own vehicle.

Purpose of post- Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist

• You will provide a high-quality child and adolescent psychotherapy service to young people and staff at our Residential homes across London and Essex. The needs of our children and young people will be the focus of your role, and you will work with children and young people and staff, to ensure the services we provide best support children and young people’s needs.

Person Specification - Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• To maintain standards and monitor the delivery of high quality, child centred therapeutic care to children and young people referred to our services in accordance with Oak House Children’s Homes policies and procedures.
• To liaise with internal and external professionals and family members as appropriate.
• To engage in relevant research and support the development of our therapeutic practice model.
• Provide Integrative Psychotherapeutic support to children and young people suffering with the impact of trauma and attachment difficulties.
• Contribute to the formulation and implementation of plans of specialist psychological treatment and management of the children and young people’s mental health needs.
• Provide a specialist psychological perspective in the assessment of children and young people referred to our services.
• Provide reflective practice sessions for our staff teams working with and educating traumatised children and young people.
• Have a good understanding of children and young people with a learning difficulty, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and sensory processing difficulties, and have the ability to carry out functional assessments.
• Support staff in their work with children and young people with sensory processing needs.
• Consult with and provide specialist psychological guidance and training to staff and, where appropriate, families and professionals.
• Consult with and advise colleagues from other professions on the progress and emotional well-being of children.
• Develop and maintain good communication links with multi agency professionals.
• Be responsible for relevant data collection on work activities, as required, and to maintain a high standard of clinical record keeping.
• To carry out such other duties as agreed with the Director, Responsible Individual and Homes Managers.

• Be confident, organised and motivated with a desire to succeed and make a positive difference to a children and young people’s lives.
• Have an ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good administration skills and good I.T skills.

• Professional registration (ACP)
• Degree in Psychotherapy or Psychology.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Special Conditions
• Up to date registration and DBS (Registered on the Update Service)
• Willingness travel between our homes in London and Essex to fulfil the responsibilities of the role.
• Clean UK Driving License with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
• A clean and smart appearance is required at all times.
