Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and proactive School Care and Support Worker to join a well-regarded SEN secondary school in South East London. The school caters to students aged 11-16 with a wide range of needs including Autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) challenges.
This is a hands-on role ideal for individuals with a background in care, youth work, or SEN support who are passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide personal care and mobility support, including assistance with wheelchair use and toileting (training provided if required)
Support students in the classroom and during social times, promoting engagement and positive behaviour
Help implement individual education and care plans alongside teachers and therapists
Encourage student independence, self-confidence, and social interaction
Respond calmly and supportively to students' emotional and behavioural needs
Requirements:
Experience working in a care, education, or SEN setting is desirable but not essential
Willingness to provide personal care and manual handling support
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Reliable, patient, and calm under pressure
A genuine interest in supporting young people with additional needs
