Are you passionate about supporting young people to thrive both personally and academically? We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Pastoral Lead (Assistant Head of Year) to join our dynamic pastoral team at a forward-thinking secondary school in Ilkeston from September 2025.
This role is pivotal in promoting student well-being, fostering a positive school culture, and ensuring that every student feels supported and valued. The successful candidate will work closely with Heads of House and other pastoral staff to implement strategies that enhance student engagement and achievement.
About the Role:As a Pastoral Lead, you will:

Support the Head of Year in managing the pastoral care and academic progress of students within a specific year group.

Monitor student attendance, behaviour, and overall well-being, intervening when necessary to provide support.

Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to address student needs.

Organise and lead assemblies, tutor sessions, and extracurricular activities that promote community and personal development.

Uphold the school's core values of courage, ambition, respect, and excellence in all interactions.

Experience working with young people in an educational or youth work setting.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and empathy.
