The Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Teacher of Science to deliver engaging and challenging lessons across KS3 and KS4. You will be joining a well-resourced department within a school that places strong emphasis on academic progress and student wellbeing. This temporary position could become permanent for the right candidate who demonstrates commitment and impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons in line with the national curriculum, with a focus on practical science and real-world application
  • Monitor and assess student progress to ensure every learner reaches their full potential
  • Work collaboratively with a supportive Science department committed to innovation and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to a school-wide ethos focused on respect, responsibility, and raising aspirations
  • Participate in enrichment and intervention programmes that promote scientific curiosity beyond the classroom

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 1-2 years of teaching experience in secondary schools, ideally with experience in teaching combined or separate sciences
  • A degree in a Science-related subject and UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Sound understanding of safeguarding procedures and a track record of positive classroom management
  • Ability to inspire learners of all abilities and build strong, respectful relationships with students

To be considered for the higher salary bracket, candidates should demonstrate:

  • Proven success in raising attainment at GCSE level, with strong data to evidence impact
  • Experience in curriculum planning, or leading key stage or departmental initiatives
  • Ongoing professional development and commitment to reflective teaching practice
