Fabricator / Coded Welder - Permanent role - Ilkley About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Fabricator / Coded Welder to join our team, producing bespoke technical assemblies to the highest standards. This is a hands-on role where you will interpret engineering drawings, set up and operate welding equipment, and ensure every finished product meets strict quality and safety parameters.Hours:Monday-Wednesday: 14:15 - 00:30, Thursday: 14:15 - 00:00Key Responsibilities:Identify and prepare parts for fabrication operations (Op 10 or Op 20).Inspect materials to ensure accuracy to the bill of materials and suitability for use.Prepare parts as specified on works orders and drawings for welding.Set welding equipment parameters, including amps, volts, wire speed, and gas settings.Inspect completed welds to ensure dimensional accuracy and compliance with drawings.Perform MIG, TIG, and resistance welding.Operate rolling and swaging machinery (following training).Use hand tools to finish and polish components to specification.Carry out cutting operations using gas, plasma, and cutting discs.Follow safety-critical welding parameters and processes.Work to production timescales and move completed work to designated areas.Safely handle and transport parts, using lifting tools and overhead cranes.Adhere to all company safety systems, SOPs, and quality standards.Qualifications & Experience:Level 3 Plate Welder Apprenticeship, Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Fabrication & Welding Engineering, or equivalent.Coded Welder ISO 9606 qualification (desirable).Minimum 5 years' fabrication or welding experience (including apprenticeship).Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.Familiarity with welding symbols and processes.Understanding of H&S procedures and quality requirements.Experience with hand tools and moving large fabrications (desirable).Key Skills:Strong attention to detail and excellent hand-eye coordination.Ability to work to tight deadlines and production schedules.Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.Good communication skills and sound written English.Why Join Us:This is an excellent opportunity to work with skilled professionals in a supportive, safety-conscious environment, delivering high-quality, precision-engineered products.Benefits:25 days holiday plus BH's (close over Xmas)4%/4% pension, rising to 6% employer after 12 monthsDeath in service x 3 if in the pension or capped at 10kCandidates will be required to perform a weld test as part of the recruitment process and must meet our quality standards to be considered for an interview.For more information and to register your interest please apply with a copy of your up to date CV.
