Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading Energy company to recruit a Lead Electrical Engineer for a travelling role across its CCGT assets.

The Lead Electrical Engineer role comes with a starting salary of up to 90,000 + private medical + benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the Lead Electrical Engineer role

As the Lead Electrical Engineer you will:

  • Lead and deliver projects and outages, ensuring compliance with regulatory and HSSE standards.
  • Undertake proactive and reactive electrical engineering work, including fault finding, problem solving, and investigations.
  • Lead project teams and deliver complex projects successfully.
  • Define scopes of work and prepare both technical and contract specifications.
  • Ensure contractor Quality Assurance and Quality Control standards are implemented and met.
  • Promote and contribute to health, safety, environmental, and quality improvements.
  • Apply electrical engineering expertise to maximise plant performance, resource utilisation, and availability.
  • Investigate system and equipment issues, assess risks, and implement engineering solutions.
  • Share and employ best practices by networking, benchmarking, and collaborating across plants, departments, and industries.
  • Manage multiple contracts within projects, including technical, commercial, health, safety, and compliance aspects.


Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Higher National Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation, with NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Strong experience with power plant or equivalent electrical engineering systems (generators, motors, HV transformers, switchgear, HV distribution).
  • Proven ability in project and contract management, including project management tools and techniques.
  • Excellent communication, planning, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Highly self-motivated, conscientious, and proactive with strong ownership of issues.
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and able to work independently with accountability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships across teams and functions.


Salary and benefits of the Lead Electrical Engineer role

  • Starting salary of 65,000 - 90,000
