Job Title: Port Operative
Location: Immingham
Shift: Night Shift (6:00 PM - 6:00 AM)
Pay: 12.21 - 15.07 per hour
About the Role:
We are seeking reliable and hardworking individuals to join our team as Night Shift Port Operative. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of port activities during the night, including cargo handling, equipment' operation, and maintaining safety standards.
The Job Roles:
- Working as a stevedore to ensure the safe discharge of cargo
- Undertaking slinger banksman duties
- Operating plant and machinery as required
- Vessels include break bulk and bulk
- General quayside duties
Key Responsibilities:
- Load and unload cargo from ships, trucks, and containers.
- Operate port machinery and equipment safely (training provided where necessary).
- Inspect and secure cargo to prevent damage or loss.
- Follow all health and safety procedures.
- Work efficiently to meet deadlines and support the overall flow of operations.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a port, warehouse, or logistics environment preferred (but not essential).
- Physically fit and able to handle manual work.
- Comfortable working outdoors and at night in varying weather conditions.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to strict safety procedures.
- Drivers licence is preferred but not mandatory unless plant driving.
- Opportunities with a full driving licence to upskill internally to Tug, Tipper, RoRo, Loading shovel driving on guaranteed hour contracts

Advantageous skills:
- Slinger Banksman certificate is highly desirable but not essential as training can be provided
- Valid or Expired Forklift licence, Shovel licence is advantageous but not essential
- HGV Class 1 licence highly desirable but not essential
- Previous experience working within a Port environment / Dock / Quayside is an advantage but not essential
