We are a leading recruitment agency currently representing a prestigious client in the finance sector. We are actively seeking an Assistant Accountant to support their finance department by ensuring efficient accounting operations. This role is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple financial tasks with precision.
Day-to-day of the role:- Invoice Processing: Accurately process purchase invoices, ensuring correct coding to relevant departments.
- Supplier Payments: Prepare and execute payment runs to ensure timely and accurate payments to suppliers.
- Sales Ledger: Manage sales invoices, credit notes, allocate customer receipts, and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Bank Reconciliations: Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are recorded accurately.
- Petty Cash Management: Oversee petty cash requests and perform regular reconciliations.
- Expense Claims: Process employee expense claims in compliance with company policies and verify receipts.
- Financial Record Keeping: Maintain precise financial records and ensure documents are filed for easy retrieval and audit purposes.
- Month-End Support: Assist with month-end closing activities such as journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- VAT Returns: Assist in preparing VAT returns, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
- Ad Hoc Reporting: Provide financial reports and analyses as required by the finance team or management.
- Audit Assistance: Support during internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Credit Card Expenses: Manage and reconcile credit card expenses.
- Payroll: Assist with the monthly payroll processing.
- CIS Returns: Compile and submit monthly returns.
- Subcontractor Payments: Process timesheets and invoices for payment.
- General Administrative Duties: Handle finance-related administrative tasks, manage correspondence, and support the finance team.
- Education: AAT qualification or actively working towards an accounting qualification.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a finance or accounting role.
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Proficiency in Sage and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong communication skills and teamwork capabilities.
