Our client is looking to recruit an interim Software Systems Architect Consultant for a high profile and commercial project. Based in their offices in South Scotland, this requires the successful candidate to be onsite a minimum of three days a week - so it is likely short-term accommodation will be required.
Role Overview:
The Software Systems Architect Consultant will serve as a strategic partner to a dynamic team of engineers, developers and stakeholders. This role goes beyond technical challenges, requiring the consultant to define the long-term vision for the platform, align architectural decisions with business objectives, and integrate forward-thinking strategies to ensure adaptability in an evolving industry.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop a comprehensive architectural roadmap aligned with organisational goals and future industry trends.- Define the long-term vision for the software platform, ensuring its resilience, scalability, and future-proofing.- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend strategic adoptions to maintain a competitive edge.- Mentor and guide the Development team, fostering innovation and empowering team members.- Act as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders to ensure clear communication of strategies.- Lead initiatives to incorporate cutting-edge technologies such as AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics.- Encourage innovation by identifying opportunities for process optimisation and technological advancements.- Design robust failover systems and disaster recovery frameworks.- Implement advanced security measures to protect the platform.- Establish KPIs to monitor system efficiency, reliability, and impact.- Regularly review and adapt architectural strategies based on performance outcomes and market shifts.
Candidate Profile:Essential Criteria:- Proven experience in software systems architecture with a focus on strategic planning and scalability.- Strong analytical skills to evaluate emerging technologies and their applicability.- Excellent communication abilities to articulate strategies and foster collaboration across diverse teams.- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring and guiding teams toward shared objectives.Desirable Criteria:- Certifications in system architecture, cloud technologies, or strategic planning.- Experience within a power systems, major infrastructure, or utilities control room environment.Additional Requirements:- Adaptability and vision to manage change and drive innovation.
