About the Company
Our client is a well-established heavy industrial manufacturer based in Ipswich, known for delivering robust, innovative engineering solutions across a range of industries. With continued investment in new technology and product development, they're now looking to strengthen their design team with an experienced Design Engineer.
The Role
As a Design Engineer, you'll play a key role in developing and improving complex mechanical systems and components for large-scale industrial equipment. Working closely with production, projects, and R&D teams, you'll take concepts from initial design through to manufacture and installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings.

- Develop innovative design solutions for heavy industrial machinery and components.

- Support product development from concept through to production and commissioning.
Â
- Liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure design integrity and manufacturability.
Â
- Perform design reviews, stress analysis, and tolerance studies where required.
Â
- Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
Â
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Design Engineer within a heavy engineering or industrial manufacturing environment.
Â
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
Â
- Strong mechanical design, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Â
- Knowledge of fabrication, welding, or machining processes (advantageous).
Â
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Â
- Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Design Engineering (or equivalent experience).
