Sheet Metal Supervisor

Sheet Metal Supervisor required for a respected provider of precision sheet metal, welding, and fabrication services based in Ipswich. The company deliver custom-engineered solutions to clients across various industries, with a commitment to quality, reliability, and innovation. We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Engineer/Supervisor to oversee a team of skilled fabricators and welders. The successful candidate will combine strong technical skills with leadership ability, ensuring production targets and quality standards are met while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.

• Supervise and coordinate the work of a team of 5 shop-floor employees (welders, press brake operators, punch operators, etc.)
• Interpret and work from engineering drawings to guide production and ensure accuracy
• Provide hands-on support with welding, fabrication, and related tasks when required
• Review job requirements and compile accurate, competitive quotations
• Ensure quality control standards are met across all projects
• Monitor and manage workflow to meet tight deadlines
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide practical solutions
• Communicate effectively with team members and management
• Promote a safe, productive, and collaborative working environment

• Strong background in sheet metal work, welding, and fabrication
• Proven supervisory or team leadership experience
• Excellent understanding of engineering drawings and specifications
• Capable of producing quotations based on material, time, and labor assessments
• Hands-on approach with a willingness to support production activities when needed
• Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
• High level of communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to shifting priorities
• Self-motivated, dependable, and committed to continuous improvement

• Salary: 35,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience and skills)
• Holiday: 188 hours annual leave plus all bank holidays
