Development Chemist - Ipswich - Competitive Salary

Prime Appointments is working with a well-established and growing company on the outskirts of Ipswich, currently seeking a Development Chemist with at least 2-3 years' industry experience. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking team where your ideas and innovation will directly contribute to both new product development and the enhancement of existing ranges.

You'll work within a collaborative and supportive environment, gaining access to excellent training and exposure to a broad range of formulation projects across multiple categories.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading formulation development from concept through to commercial launch
  • Conducting lab-based testing, including stability trials, benchmarking, and performance evaluations
  • Ensuring safe lab practice through the application of SDS, COSHH, and relevant regulatory standards (REACH, CLP, BPR)
  • Researching and sourcing innovative raw materials and formulation trends via supplier engagement
  • Collaborating closely with production, quality, and scale-up teams, providing technical support and documentation
  • Analysing experimental data using Excel and writing detailed reports on findings and recommendations

What we're looking for:

  • A BSc in Chemistry or a related field (MSc advantageous)
  • Strong practical experience in formulation and lab testing
  • Familiarity with safety data sheets and risk assessments (SDS/COSHH)
  • Confident working with data in Excel, with a methodical and analytical mindset
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team

Desirable experience:

  • Previous work within household, personal care, or industrial cleaning product sectors
