Sheet Metal Supervisor required for a respected provider of precision sheet metal, welding, and fabrication services based in Ipswich. We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Engineer/Supervisor to oversee a team of skilled fabricators and welders. The successful candidate will combine strong technical skills with leadership ability, ensuring production targets and quality standards are met while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
Sheet Metal Supervisor Job Overview- Supervise and coordinate the work of a team of 5 shop-floor employees (welders, press brake operators, punch operators, etc.)
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings to guide production and ensure accuracy
- Provide hands-on support with welding, fabrication, and related tasks when required
- Review job requirements and compile accurate, competitive quotations
- Ensure quality control standards are met across all projects
- Monitor and manage workflow to meet tight deadlines
- Troubleshoot technical issues and provide practical solutions
- Communicate effectively with team members and management
- Promote a safe, productive, and collaborative working environment
- Strong background in sheet metal work, welding, and fabrication
- Proven supervisory or team leadership experience
- Excellent understanding of engineering drawings and specifications
- Capable of producing quotations based on material, time, and labor assessments
- Hands-on approach with a willingness to support production activities when needed
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
- High level of communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to shifting priorities
- Self-motivated, dependable, and committed to continuous improvement
- Salary: £35,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience and skills)
- Holiday: 188 hours annual leave plus all bank holidays
