LDH are well established food distributors based in Ipswich with an impressive purpose-built office with a 45,000 holding pallet fully automated warehouse. LDH have over 65 years experience supplying the major UK supermarkets and is recognised as the leading own label supplier of a wide range of ambient foods, sourced from every corner of the world.


Part of the maintenance team ensures the efficient and safe operation of equipment and facilities through the performance of routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections throughout the building.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, support and coordinate the daily activities of the facilities team, including the multi-skilled engineers, providing clear direction, support, and performance feedback.
  • Manage and develop relationships with external vendors, ensuring service delivery meets agreed standards, timelines, and budgetary requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and monitoring of the facilities budget, tracking expenditure and identifying opportunities for efficiency and cost savings.
  • Ensure full compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policiesacross both the office and warehouse facilities, promoting a safe working culture.
  • Oversee the implementation and execution of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring timely completion and quality of work.
  • Liaise effectively with warehouse operatorto coordinate facility-related requirements and ensure seamless operational support within the automated warehouse.
  • Manage site services,including utilities, cleaning, security, and waste management, ensuring they are delivered effectively and efficiently.
  • Oversee in the planning and supervision of minor facilities projects and upgrades,ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of facility-related policies and procedures,ensuring they are clearly communicated and consistently followed.
  • Support and monitor team performance and identify training and development needs, fostering a skilled and motivated facilities team.
  • Act as a key point of contact for facilities-related issues, providing timely and effective solutions for both office-based employees and warehouse operations.
  • Regularly report on facilities activities, performance, and any potential issues to the Facilities Manager.
  • Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM)and reactive maintenance tasks.
  • Lead regular inspections of machinery/equipmentand facilities to identify potential issues and ensure proper functioning.
  • Perform mechanical and/or electrical and/or plumbing repairs
  • Vehicle Management


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a facilities supervisory or building services role, with demonstrable supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Strong Microsoft IT skills
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, and relevant regulations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in managing external vendors and contractors.
  • Budget management experience is desirable.
  • Relevant certifications or qualifications in engineering, both plumbing and electrical and/or mechanical
  • A proactive and hands-on approach with a strong focus on delivering results.
  • Strong reporting skills with clear breakdowns of issues raised



You will need a good understanding of mechanical and/or electrical and/or plumbing principles and proficiency in the use of hand and power tools. You will have strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills and demonstrate the ability to follow instructions, lead a team and work independently.
