Health and Safety Advisor
Location: Suffolk
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full-time (41.5 hours/week, Monday-Friday)
Salary: Negotiable (Dependent on Experience)
About the Company
A market leader in the UK construction sector. Currently seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to provide maternity cover within the Health & Safety Department.
Role Overview
As Health & Safety Advisor, you will work closely with the team to manage risks across all business activities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and maintaining the companies high standards in Health & Safety. Based at the Suffolk Head Office, occasional travel to project sites will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Stay informed on relevant legislation and ensure appropriate company actions
- Develop and implement safety initiatives, procedures, and safe systems of work (SSOW)
- Conduct site inspections, liaise with management, and recommend corrective actions
- Collaborate with Main Contractors and attend site H&S meetings
- Write and review Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, and Method Statements
- Obtain and review RAMS from subcontractors
- Chair Health & Safety Forum meetings, set agendas, and report key issues
- Investigate accidents, compile reports, and ensure RIDDOR compliance
- Support maintenance of ISO Management Systems (ISO )
- Ensure ongoing compliance with internal HSE policies and procedures
- Update documentation based on Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) feedback

Qualifications & Desirable Experience
Essential:
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
Desirable:
- First Aid at Work qualification
- Valid CSCS card
