About the Company

A market leader in the UK construction sector. Currently seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to provide maternity cover within the Health & Safety Department.

Role Overview

As Health & Safety Advisor, you will work closely with the team to manage risks across all business activities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and maintaining the companies high standards in Health & Safety. Based at the Suffolk Head Office, occasional travel to project sites will be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stay informed on relevant legislation and ensure appropriate company actions
  • Develop and implement safety initiatives, procedures, and safe systems of work (SSOW)
  • Conduct site inspections, liaise with management, and recommend corrective actions
  • Collaborate with Main Contractors and attend site H&S meetings
  • Write and review Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, and Method Statements
  • Obtain and review RAMS from subcontractors
  • Chair Health & Safety Forum meetings, set agendas, and report key issues
  • Investigate accidents, compile reports, and ensure RIDDOR compliance
  • Support maintenance of ISO Management Systems (ISO )
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with internal HSE policies and procedures
  • Update documentation based on Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) feedback

  • Maintains professional confidentiality and CPD
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines

Qualifications & Desirable Experience

Essential:

  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate

Desirable:

  • First Aid at Work qualification
  • Valid CSCS card
