About the Role

Are you passionate about delivering fair outcomes for customers while navigating complex financial situations? We’re looking for a Litigation Officer to join our dynamic Banking & Credit Management team. In this role, you’ll manage a portfolio of residential mortgage accounts in serious arrears, guiding them through the litigation process with empathy, professionalism, and precision.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Proactively manage mortgage accounts in litigation or approaching term expiry.
  • Communicate with customers to understand their financial circumstances and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Analyse financial documents such as bank statements and income & expenditure forms.
  • Ensure all litigation activity complies with internal SLAs, procedures, and current legislation.
  • Work with borrowers nearing the end of their mortgage term to assess repayment strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all customer interactions are logged appropriately.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, solicitors, and third-party advisors to progress cases effectively.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Must have experience working in the legal sector or a degree related to law
  • Must have previous experience working in an office environment ideally within the legal, mortgage or property sector
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer-focused with a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Knowledge of mortgage loan documentation and relevant financial regulations.
  • Understanding of financial budgets and the UK Benefits System.
  • Ability to manage workloads independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Previous litigation experience and familiarity with court documentation.
  • Law degree or full CeMAP qualification.
