An established FMCG manufacturer is looking to appoint a Development Chemist to join its Technical NPD team in Irvine.
This is a hands-on formulation role, responsible for taking products from initial lab development through to manufacturing scale-up and market launch. The position focuses on product development and formulation ownership, not a QC or analytical chemistry role.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise formulations for formulated FMCG products
- Manage NPD projects from lab through pilot and full-scale manufacture
- Support existing product ranges and deliver new formulations to agreed timelines
- Lead feasibility assessments to support tenders and quotations
- Oversee stability testing, specifications and launch readiness
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and GMP requirements
- Work cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, QA and SHE
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree in Chemistry or related discipline
- Minimum 3 years' experience in formulation development
- Proven experience of manufacturing scale-up in an FMCG environment
- Strong project management and commercial awareness
- GMP experience essential
