This opening represents a genuine opportunity for a capable and confident Production Engineer to take ownership of key engineering processes, support the transition of new products into production, and drive improvements in manufacturing efficiency. You’ll be part of a focused team that values initiative, problem-solving, and professional development. This role offers regular exposure to customers and suppliers, allowing you to broaden your commercial and technical skills.As the Production Engineer you will:

  • Maintain and improve existing production processes in line with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Identify and resolve manufacturing issues, improving efficiency and safety on the shop floor.
  • Lead or contribute to structured problem-solving activities, including cross-functional team efforts.
  • Manage the introduction of new products to manufacturing, ensuring full documentation is available (process control documentation, risk assessments, drawings, etc.).
  • Create and maintain component/assembly routings and BOMs using the EFACS ERP system.
  • Recommend, source, prove, and implement suitable tooling, fixtures, and equipment to support production.
  • Fault-find and resolve issues with production line equipment, liaising with internal maintenance and external suppliers when needed.
  • Analyse test data and implement improvements to enhance process capability and product quality.
  • Apply and promote process control techniques such as SPC, Poka-Yoke, process flow mapping, and line balancing.
  • Attend supplier and customer visits alongside Sales or Purchasing as required, representing the business professionally.
  • Train and mentor assembly teams during new product launches.
  • Encourage continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and Kaizen, across manufacturing departments.
  • Take ownership of the quality and standard of your own output while embracing opportunities to broaden your skillset.
  • Always promote and uphold a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.

To be considered for the Production Engineer role you will need:

  • Proven manufacturing/production engineering experience in an electro-mechanical or precision engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes – hands-on experience is essential.
  • Experience introducing new products into production and implementing process improvements.
  • Electro-mechanical design understanding and the ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD (or similar CAD software) and the ability to read and create tooling and assembly drawings.
  • Ability to prepare accurate manufacturing costings.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems (EFACS experience ideal but not essential).
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Excellent written communication skills – capable of writing technical reports and investment justifications.
  • Eye for detail, with the ability to deliver complete engineering packages on time.
  • Confident, self-motivated, and able to make informed decisions without needing direction.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and experience applying lean principles in a practical environment.
