Our client, a respected educational institution in Kendal, is seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Maintenance Person to join their team on a temporary basis. This role is crucial for ensuring the well-being of students and staff, and it may extend through the summer term or longer!
Position: Health and Safety Maintenance Person
Contract Type: Temporary
Hourly Rate: 16.50 - 18.75 (depending on experience)
Working Pattern: Full Time (Monday to Friday, 5+ hours daily). Hours can be discussed in interview.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Health and Safety Maintenance Person, you will play an essential role in maintaining a safe and clean environment. You will work with the cleaning manager to carry out checks. Your duties will include:
- Conducting regular inspections of classrooms, corridors, toilets, and kitchens for cleanliness and safety.
- Checking firefighting equipment and ensuring all safety signs are visible and legible.
- Ensuring that toilets are stocked with necessary supplies and sanitary disposal units are in good order.
- Identifying and mitigating slip, trip, or fall hazards throughout the school.
- Managing access routes for emergency services and ensuring fire exits are clear.
- Performing weekly and monthly checks of equipment, including alarms, lighting, and fire safety measures.
Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS check (essential)
- Previous experience in a school setting is beneficial
- Willingness to undergo safeguarding training (provided by the school)
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety
