This is a standout opportunity to join a well-regarded Legal 500 firm as Head of the Family Department.

You’ll lead a small, capable team of four—including a senior solicitor, NQ solicitor and support staff—while managing your own caseload of private family matters, predominantly financial remedy and private children work.

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and manage the department, fostering a positive and high-performing culture
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations
  • Conduct regular departmental meetings to support communication and cohesion within the team
  • Manage a full caseload of private family law matters (including children and financial remedy)
  • Work with directors and the firm’s accountant to develop and manage annual departmental budgets
  • Oversee departmental credit control and support fee earners in managing matter balances
  • Support the firm in bidding for LAA contracts as required
  • Attend and represent the firm at networking and industry events
  • Raise the department’s profile through client engagement, social media activity, and thought leadership

About You:

  • Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with at least 5 years’ experience in Private Family Law
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Well-organised and able to prioritise workload
  • Driven to progress your career
