PURPOSE OF ROLE

We're working with a well-established insurance broker to recruit a Claims Handler to manage a range of commercial claims. The role focuses on delivering efficient, accurate claims handling and maintaining strong client relationships throughout the process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handle claims across multiple lines, including Property, Motor/Fleet, EL, and PL
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients during the claims lifecycle
  • Liaise with insurers, loss adjusters, and suppliers to secure fair settlements
  • Process claims within delegated authority, escalating complex cases as needed
  • Maintain accurate claims records and documentation
  • Support internal reviews, audits, and insurer meetings

DAY-TO-DAY

  • Manage a portfolio of open claims, ensuring timely updates and resolution
  • Communicate regularly with clients, insurers, and stakeholders
  • Review claim reports, estimates, and supporting documents
  • Keep internal systems and diaries up to date
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to process improvements

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in handling property or commercial claims is essential
  • Familiarity with delegated authority limits
  • Exposure to other commercial lines or specialist claims would be desirable
  • Experience supporting audit or compliance processes is a plus

SKILLS

  • Clear communicator with strong negotiation ability
  • Able to interpret policy wordings and explain outcomes to clients
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple claims
  • Confident using claims systems and Microsoft Office
  • Client-focused with a proactive, problem-solving approach
  • Works well in a team and supports knowledge-sharing
