Butler Rose is proud to partner with a respected leading independent firm of chartered accountants to recruit an experienced Agriculture & Property Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of rural clients, lead and develop a high-performing team, and deliver tailored accounting and tax solutions within the agriculture and property sectors.

Purpose of the Role

You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and driving the delivery of accounting and tax planning solutions. Building strong client relationships will enable you to deliver projects efficiently and support the growth and development of the team. You'll provide unique, tailored advice to key rural clients and help meet departmental objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional client service across a wide variety of accounting and tax matters in a cost-effective and timely manner
  • Respond promptly to client queries and third-party requests (e.g., HMRC)
  • Review accounts and tax returns prepared by junior staff, including corporate and unincorporated clients
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients on day-to-day matters
  • Identify business and tax planning opportunities, VAT and NIC issues, and raise these with partners and clients as appropriate
  • Assist partners with advisory assignments, business planning, and tax matters
  • Manage work-in-progress efficiently, ensuring timely progression to billing
  • Monitor deadlines and ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as tax returns, P11Ds, and company reporting
  • Support the management of the Agriculture and Property Department through effective delegation, staff appraisals, training, and resource planning
Required Skills & Experience
  • ACA, ACCA or CTA qualification
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in accounts and tax within a practice environment
  • Proven ability to review and complete accounts and personal tax returns efficiently
  • Strong IT literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and active listening skills
  • Confident in client-facing situations and relationship management
  • Proactive management skills with experience leading teams or mentoring staff
  • Experience working with rural or agricultural clients is highly desirable
