Job description
The main role is vehicle wiring so a formal qualification in auto electrics is essential along with a working knowledge of PLC, CANBUS and Solid-State Electrics. The successful candidate will have some mechanical knowledge ideally from commercial vehicles, plant hire sectors or the body building industry. A willingness to learn and ability to work to time constraints and customers specifications is essential.
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of electrical systems and be able to work independently or as part of a team. This role requires mechanical knowledge and the ability to handle various hand and power tools. The Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in residential, commercial, or industrial settings.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Ensure that all installations comply with the relevant safety standards and regulations.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and provide effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems to identify potential hazards or defects.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople to complete projects efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Assist with heavy lifting when necessary for the installation or repair of equipment.
- Supporting the Production Manager in developing a high standard of Refuse vehicles
- Ability to read drawings and carry out works in accordance with drawings supplied in build packs.
- Vehicle wiring in accordance with the wiring diagrams / instructions.
- Working in a timely manner producing finished products to build process deadlines
- Ability to raise issues during a build process and record any changes
- Actively capturing and recording wiring information to be standardised and used in future builds
- Suggesting new / improved wiring solutions / initiatives to reduce build times
- Support sub-contractors, such as Camera, Weigh, and other ancillary companies while on site
- Monitoring build process and liaising with Production Manager so appointments for sub-contractors can be arranged.
Experience
- Proven experience as an Electrician or in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively.
- Experience in heavy lifting and working in various environments is advantageous.
- A valid electrician's licence or relevant certification is desirable but not mandatory for all applicants.
Whilst fulfilling the role the successful candidate will be expected to maintain good housekeeping practices and demonstrate responsibility for their personal health and safety and those around them, including risk assessing their own work to ensure safe working practices are being carried out and using Personal Protective Equipment as and when appropriate.
