The Process Safety Advisor plays a critical role in ensuring that all operations involving energetic materials and manufacturing processes are conducted safely and within legal and company regulations. You'll be working in a high-hazard COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) site-so process safety is paramount.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses such as HAZOP, HAZID, and LOPA.
- Support the development and implementation of risk assessments.
- Conduct safety case reviews and manage process safety-related documentation.
- Provide technical safety support to engineers and operational teams.
- Assist with regulatory compliance (e.g., Explosives Regulations 2014, COMAH).
- Contribute to incident investigations and implement lessons learned.
- Develop and deliver process safety training.
Required Skills & Experience
- A degree in Chemical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of process safety management and methodologies.
- Familiarity with UK regulations, especially relating to COMAH and explosives safety.
- Experience working in high-hazard or regulated manufacturing environments.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it (e.g., through IChemE or IMechE).
- NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma in Process Safety.
- Experience in the defence or aerospace sectors.
