Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading energy generation company to recruit a Controls and Instrumentation Engineer to be based at their Energy from Waste site in Worcestershire.

The Controls and Instrumentation role comes with a salary of up to 65,000 + benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the C&I Engineer

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will:

Ensure all control and instrumentation systems are correctly operated, maintained, tested, and calibrated in line with statutory and site requirements.
Lead and develop a team of C&I Technicians, providing technical direction, performance management, and ongoing training.
Maintain and optimise the site's Distributed Control System (DCS) and Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS), ensuring compliance with environmental and operational standards.
Plan, manage, and oversee maintenance and calibration contracts for specialist systems including DCS, CEMS, water treatment, and security systems.
Support audits, compliance activities, and procurement processes in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager.
Develop and implement obsolescence and cyber security strategies for control and instrumentation systems.
Provide fault diagnosis, emergency support, and cross-discipline technical assistance to maintain plant reliability and performance.

Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

Minimum HNC (Higher National Certificate) or higher in Control & Instrumentation, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline.
At least five years' post-qualification experience in a C&I role within a power generation, process, or heavy industrial environment.
Strong technical knowledge of DCS and CEMS systems, with proven hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance experience.
Demonstrated experience managing teams and external maintenance contractors.
Solid understanding of process control systems, safety standards, and compliance frameworks.
