Location: Kidderminster

Shorterm Group are working with a leading defence engineering organisation who are seeking a Model Based Systems Engineer to join their design and modelling team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer who wants to grow within the role and ultimately progress into heading up the Systems Engineering function.

The Role:
As a Model Based Systems Engineer, you'll be supporting the organisation's Digital Engineering initiative. You will develop and maintain system models, provide technical leadership on MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering) practices, and play a central role in integrating digital engineering tools and processes.

You'll also help train and support colleagues on the application of MBSE, working with engineers, technical authorities, and clients to ensure digital continuity across the full lifecycle of complex systems.

This position offers real career development - as the department grows, you'll have the opportunity to step up and lead the Systems Engineering function.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain system models using MBSE methodologies.
- Lead adoption of new digital engineering tools and processes.
- Ensure data consistency, digital continuity, and lifecycle traceability.
- Collaborate with engineers, technical authorities, and customers to manage requirements.
- Provide MBSE expertise, including validation and verification of digital models.
- Support broader engineering projects, with the chance to expand into performance modelling and simulation.

About You
We are looking for someone who is proactive, ambitious, and keen to advance their career in systems engineering.

Essential:
- Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering discipline.
- 2+ years' experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of MBSE methodologies and tools (SysML).
- Programming skills (Matlab, Simulink, Python, or Javascript).
- Familiarity with Digital Engineering concepts such as Digital Thread and Digital Continuity.
- Confident communicator with strong problem-solving skills.

Desirable:
- Experience with SYSML, Rhapsody and Simulink.
Knowledge of requirements management tools.
Defence sector or complex systems background.
