Cost Controller – Oxfordshire (Hybrid Working)10-Month Fixed-Term Contract

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Cost Controller to join a pioneering green technology programme based in Oxfordshire. This position offers hybrid working and the chance to support the delivery of a high-impact clean energy initiative that is shaping the future of zero-emissions transport and heavy industry.

The RoleAs Cost Controller, you will play a central role in establishing and managing programme-level cost controls to ensure transparent and accurate financial tracking. Reporting to the PMO Manager, you’ll work closely with finance, procurement, and programme leadership to monitor actual spend, manage variances, and align costs with forecasted budgets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and maintain a centralised cost tracking and reporting mechanism across the programme.

  • Monitor actual costs versus forecast on a monthly basis and escalate significant variances.

  • Track key cost categories including resource costs, contractor spend, and major capital expenditure items.

  • Support procurement processes, invoice approvals, and vendor reporting activities.

  • Deliver clear and concise cost dashboards and updates to finance and programme leadership teams.

About You

  • Proven experience in a cost control, finance, or programme accounting role within a project-driven environment.

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Confident managing complex data sets and producing high-quality reporting outputs.

  • Familiarity with programme budgeting, variance analysis, and capital cost tracking.

  • Experience working with finance and procurement teams; knowledge of ERP tools or financial systems is desirable.

  • Proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to communicate clearly and influence across multiple teams.

  • Duration: 10-month fixed-term contract (with potential for extension)

  • Location: Oxfordshire (hybrid working – part on-site, part remote)
