Litigation Lawyer

£51,005 - £56,821| Hybrid Working | Annualised Hours

We’re looking for a confident and capable Litigation Lawyer to join our dynamic legal team. You’ll lead prosecutions and represent the councils in court and enjoy real autonomy, a broad caseload, and the support of an experienced team behind you.

Whether you’re prosecuting rogue landlords, handling planning enforcement, or advising on statutory nuisance this is your chance to be at the forefront of local authority litigation.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Prosecute housing, planning, licensing, and environmental offences.

• Represent the councils at court, licensing panels, and tribunals.

• Manage civil litigation including debt recovery, liability orders, and claims.

• Draft legal documents including summonses, charges, and statements.

• Advise on enforcement strategy, evidence gathering, and legal process.

• Provide training on key statutory powers, including PACE and RIPA.

• Support governance by advising planning and licensing committees.

What You’ll Bring

? A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive

? At least two years' experience in criminal and/or civil litigation

? Confident courtroom advocacy and excellent drafting skills

? Strong time management and case progression abilities

? A calm, collaborative mindset with a focus on public service

The Offer

 Varied Caseload: Primarily criminal prosecutions, with options for civil work too

??? Court Presence: Typically once per week in Oxford Central — a manageable, local circuit

 Hybrid Working: Freedom to work remotely and flexibly, with strong IT and admin support

 Annualised Hours: Average 37 hours/week, but full control over how you manage your time

 Leave: 25 days (rising to 30) + bank holidays + Christmas closure
