Level 1 Teaching Assistant - Behaviour & Additional Needs

Location: Manchester (City Council Area)
Salary: 23,114 per annum (pro rata)
Contract: Full-time / Long-term

Simply Education are seeking a Level 1 Teaching Assistant to join one of our partnered Manchester schools, supporting pupils with behavioural, social, and emotional needs. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for someone passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and thrive within an inclusive setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional or behavioural needs.
  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management.
  • Encourage pupil participation and help promote positive behaviour and engagement.
  • Support pupils' emotional and social development through consistent, nurturing guidance.
  • Implement de-escalation strategies and behaviour interventions using Team Teach techniques.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment for all pupils.

Requirements:

  • Team Teach qualification (essential) - candidates without this cannot be considered.
  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational or community setting.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour management.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing.
  • Willingness to develop skills and undertake ongoing training.

Desirable:

  • Level 1 or 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience within an SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision environment.
