Waste Manager
I'm supporting a Tier One contractor delivering a major, long-term civils and infrastructure programme in the North West. We're looking for an experienced Waste Manager to lead waste strategy, compliance and delivery across multiple work packages within a highly regulated environment.
This role is key to ensuring safe, compliant and efficient waste operations, covering hazardous and non-hazardous waste, construction and demolition waste, and specialist waste streams. You'll work closely with environmental, SHEQ, engineering and delivery teams to ensure the project meets all governance, environmental and legal requirements.
Role Overview:
* Lead the waste-management strategy across the programme
* Manage waste classification, segregation, storage, movement and disposal routes
* Oversee specialist waste contractors and suppliers
* Ensure full compliance with environmental legislation, site licences and permit conditions
* Track waste volumes, costs, performance and diversion-from-landfill targets
* Identify opportunities for recycling, reuse and resource-efficiency improvements
* Produce waste reports, KPIs, trackers and compliance documentation
* Carry out audits and inspections and close out any non-conformances
* Work collaboratively with delivery, SHEQ, environmental and engineering teams
* Support risk, forecasting, sustainability and governance processes
What We're Looking For:
* Strong background in waste management within major infrastructure, civils, construction or utilities
* Knowledge of waste legislation, hazardous-waste classification, duty of care and disposal routes
* Experience managing waste contractors and supply chain partners
* Excellent organisational, reporting and communication skills
* Ability to work within a highly regulated, high-governance environment
* Proactive, detail-focused and confident managing multiple workstreams
This role requires the ability to satisfy security vetting processes linked to high-security infrastructure environments.
