Rising Talent is are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with welding expertise to join our client's engineering team in Kilmarnock. This permanent position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects throughout their entire lifecycle, from initial design and development to testing and fault analysis. The successful candidate will be pivotal in specifying repair procedures for overhaul and maintenance, assisting with welding and collaborating with suppliers to source replacement components.
You will be responsible for creating and reviewing documentation for welded structures, designing new or upgraded frameworks, updating drawings, and managing Bill of Material records. Acting as an Assistant Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC), you will oversee welding standards, interpret engineering drawings, and ensure quality control standards are maintained. You will also be involved in developing welding principles with the engineering and project teams, promoting safety, and supporting high standards in documentation and procedures, all contributing to safe, efficient project execution.
- Relevant mechanical qualification and experience, preferably within high hazard industry
- Strong knowledge of welded structures, welding principles, and relevant standards (BS EN ISO 3834, 14731, 15085 beneficial but not essential)
- Advanced understanding of engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD software, preferably CREO
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to brief teams and stakeholders effectively
- Problem-solving capability and project management understanding, including commercial awareness
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, MS Project, and PowerPoint
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and coordinate cross-team activities
