ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Prospero Teaching is seeking experienced and enthusiastic GCSE Tutors to provide one-to-one tuition in Maths and English to students in Stockport who need additional support to achieve their target grades. This is a rewarding role where youll help learners build confidence, strengthen subject knowledge, and develop effective exam strategies.
Tuition will take place during school hours and can be delivered in the students home or online, depending on availability and learner needs. Youll plan and deliver structured lessons aligned to the GCSE curriculum, adapting your approach to suit individual learning styles. Prospero Teaching will support you throughout the process to ensure positive outcomes.
CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS
Location: Stockport and surrounding areas
Position: GCSE Tutor Maths & English
Type of work: One-to-one tuition (home-based or online)
Full time/part time: Part-time up to 10 hours per week during school time
Minimum rate of pay: 25 per hour
Session Lengths: Flexible typically 1 to 3 hours per session
Start Date: Ongoing immediate interviews available
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver engaging and structured GCSE Maths and English lessons tailored to individual needs.
Identify gaps in knowledge and create targeted intervention plans.
Teach exam techniques and revision strategies to boost confidence and performance.
Track progress and provide clear feedback to parents/carers.
Adapt teaching methods to support different learning styles and abilities.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
Minimum 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring GCSE Maths or English.
Strong knowledge of GCSE specifications and assessment criteria.
Desirable:
QTS, QTLS, PGCE or equivalent.
Experience supporting learners with SEN (e.g., Autism, ADHD, SEMH).
Up-to-date safeguarding training (can be provided by Prospero).
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
Hold Right to Work in the UK.
Hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
Provide two professional references covering the last two years.
