Job Description Manchester SEND Specialist Tutor

Prospero Teaching are partnered with Local Councils, SEND teams and Schools throughout the UK. We have a high demand for oneor small group SEND Specialist Tutors who have experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the Manchester area.

The Opportunity As a SEND Specialist Tutor, you will create, plan, and deliver tailored 1:1 lessons for individual students. You may be an experienced tutor or teacher, or have worked with children in a therapeutic capacity. Your role will be to support pupils in their learning, provide structure to their daily routine, and continue their educational development until a suitable school placement is found.

Tuition replaces school for these young people and is commissioned for a set number of hours, delivered during school hours (9am3pm), five days a week. Prospero will work closely with you to monitor progress, asking for weekly reports. We can accommodate both partand fullhours (6-15 hours per week per student).

Duration: Until the pupil secures a suitable school placement

Hours: Part-time availability, ranging from 6-15 hours per week per student

Rate of pay: Up to 30 per hour (negotiable)

Your Role with Us:

Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition supporting students with SEND, focusing on confidence, life skills, community access, simple cooking, and fostering independence.

Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps.

Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and families.

Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students rebuild confidence in learning.

Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.

Experience, Training and Qualifications:

Child-related qualification

UK classroom teaching experience

Creativity, patience, and willingness to think outside the box

Experience working with students with SEND including ASD, ADHD, GLD, and challenging behaviours

Eligibility Requirements:

Right to work in the UK

Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the update service (or willingness to apply)

References covering the last two years of education/employment
