The Company Able Bridge Recruitment are currently working with an internationally recognised manufacturing business in the recruitment of a senior buyer on a permanent basis.

This newly created role will report into the head of finance and will be the first strategic hire within the procurement department. The role holder will be office based near Kilwinning on a full-time basis.

The ResponsibilitiesThe purpose of this role is to provide a lead for the business when it comes to all things procurement. You will be responsible for the optimisation of global supply chain processes, improvements to procurement methodology and ensure that cost savings are made whilst maintaining the quality and continuity of products bought. You will be an integral part of the company and will have multiple stakeholders ranging from sales, IT, production, finance and senior management.

This role is seen by the business as a fundamental hire and the role holder will have a significant degree of autonomy. Your first priorities will be to bring structure, efficiency and innovation to the subject of sourcing and managing suppliers and products.

On a day-to-day basis you can expect to be responsible for the following;Develop and execute procurement strategies to support operational goals and cost-saving initiatives.Identify opportunities for consolidation, alternative sourcing, and long-term supplier agreements.Manage relationships with global suppliers to negotiate better pricing, lead times, and terms.Conduct supplier evaluations and onboard new suppliers where necessary to mitigate risk and improve performance.Review and improve procurement processes, including order management, stock control, and Bills Of Material (BOM) integration.Collaborate with IT to develop better reporting tools and automation to streamline procurement operations.Work with the Sales team to respond promptly and accurately to CRM-based pricing tasks and product requests.Liaise with the workshop and production teams to ensure timely availability of components and materials.Produce actionable procurement reports and KPIs to inform management decisions.Maintain accurate records of purchasing, pricing, costing, and supplier information.

The RequirementsWe are seeking a highly experienced and seasoned procurement/buyer professional who ideally has a background of working within a manufacturing environment. Our client has a large product range and as such we are ideally needing extensive experience in dealing with complex Bills Of Material. This is an international role and you will be working with suppliers internationally, as such it would be ideal if candidates have a network of global suppliers. Critical competencies will include the ability to negotiate, manage contracts and innovation around cost reduction.
