On behalf of my client, I am recruiting for a Procurement & Trading Manager that will report into the Group Trading Director.

Location: Kings Lynn

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Competitive

Full UK driving licence; UK and international travel required.

A willingness to travel globally to build relationships and a better understanding is imperative. The purchasing and trading activity will involve a high level of interaction with multiple stakeholders across the group. The successful candidate will have a hands-on approach to procurement, relationship management and business development. They will work alongside the Trading, Finance, Operations and Sales team advising on trading matters and providing valuable input to develop and grow the business.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Monitor and research global markets and trading developments to inform strategic decisions.
  • Lead the company’s trading strategy, developing actions to optimise financial performance and improve strategic positioning.
  • Ensure robust, compliant trading and procurement systems that support current activities and future growth.
  • Forecast stock requirements based on historical data and market conditions, managing raw material availability to meet sales demand.
  • Evaluate market conditions to control stock levels and storage locations, ensuring profitability targets are met.
  • Oversee all raw material transactions, including storage, shipping, and customs clearance.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with external stakeholders, particularly suppliers.
  • Calculate costings of raw materials for margins and sales quotations.
  • Manage risks associated with trading, including currency exposure and regulatory matters.
  • Analyse and manage business development opportunities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in international business, preferably in chemical, fertiliser, or commodity products trading.
  • Knowledge of international supply chains, logistics, foreign currency, and risk management.
  • Understanding of chemical processes.
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work with teams at all organisational levels.
  • Innovative and commercial mindset with excellent IT skills.
  • Strong finance and analytical skills, with experience in contract management.
  • High performance and deadline-oriented work style.
  • Integrity, commitment to good governance, and strong negotiation skills.
  • Cultural awareness
