As a vital member of the Senior Management Team, the Head of Commercial and Operations will lead on the strategic planning and development of the commercial and operations teams.
Working as the Head of Commercial and Operations you will oversee the diversification of the organisations income through commercial opportunities and strategic development, and reporting of the finance and people strategies.

DUTIES
Your duties as a Head of Commercial and Operations include:
- Serve as a strategic deputy to the Chief Executive Officer, overseeing the strategic direction of services within the roles remit
- Lead, manage, and develop the Commercial and Operations departments, ensuring alignment with the organisation's strategic objectives through budgets and operational planning
- Provide strategic management to support the organisations financial affairs and statutory reporting
- Ensure the organisation is operating within best practice and most up to date HR legislation
- Lead on the creation of the organisations commercial strategy and drive its implementation and oversee organisational commercial and brand performance
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Significant experience in delivering successful commercial projects in charities, Student Unions or other member-based organisations
- Demonstrate experience of staff management, recruitment, and performance management
- Evidence of ongoing professional development ideally within leadership or management
- Experience of strategic oversight of organisational communications and brand development in line with strategic goals
- Experience of delivering successful commercial initiatives, with a focus on stakeholder engagement and partnership building
- Demonstrable financial acumen, business planning and excellent budget management and reporting on impact against budget
- Experience of producing strong written communications, including reports, policies, staff briefings and training
- Offer excellent judgement, particularly under high pressure in a challenging organisation
- Ability to work in a democratic/member organisation with the political tact to build relationships with officers and Trustees of the organisation
