Audit & Accounts Manager

Overview:

An established Accountancy Firm in the Dudley area is looking to appoint a Senior Audit & Accounts Manager. This is a key leadership role within the firm, offering the opportunity to manage your own portfolio of OMB/SME clients - including sole traders, limited companies, and partnerships - while leading and mentoring a team of Qualified and Junior staff in a supportive and professional environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee a varied portfolio of audit and accounts clients, delivering work to a consistently high standard while ensuring strong client relationships.
  • Take the lead on complex audit assignments - from planning and staff allocation to final file review and client close-out meetings.
  • Review accounts and financial statements prepared by junior team members, ensuring accuracy and readiness for partner approval.
  • Ensure audit compliance across key areas such as fixed assets, depreciation, stock, accruals, and deferred income.
  • Provide leadership to the audit team by setting clear objectives, conducting performance appraisals, and offering hands-on coaching during on-site engagements.
  • Engage directly with clients, including limited companies, LLPs, and group structures, to discuss financial results and corporate tax matters.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and third-party stakeholders, often liaising with senior decision-makers such as CFOs and Managing Directors.
  • Monitor and manage budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure the efficient and profitable delivery of services.
  • Support business development initiatives by identifying opportunities, building relationships, and representing the firm at external events and networking functions.

Requirements:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified.
  • Proven experience in audit and client accounting within an accountancy practice.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and IAS.
  • Demonstrable experience managing staff and client portfolios.
  • Commercially aware with a strategic mindset and excellent communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and organisational abilities.
