Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading Energy from Waste company to recruit a Compliance Manager for its site in North Yorkshire.

The Compliance Manager role comes with a starting salary of up to 70,000 + car allowance + benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the Compliance Manager role

As the Compliance Manager you will:

  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of the Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring best practices in health, safety, quality, and environmental performance.
  • Manage and develop the site's SharePoint-based IMS platform to support effective compliance tracking and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the central HSEQ team to align local documentation and standards with corporate frameworks.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of Business Continuity Plans and Incident Response Plans.
  • Ensure full legal compliance across the facility by supporting operational and facility managers with up-to-date guidance.
  • Lead the establishment and operation of the Health & Safety Committee, ensuring proper communication of findings and actions.
  • Monitor and report on key compliance KPIs, providing data-driven insights to demonstrate performance.
  • Coordinate and deliver internal audits and inspections, ensuring timely corrective actions are implemented and tracked.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders to represent the site and ensure all obligations are met.
  • Deliver and manage staff training programmes and occupational health surveillance to maintain site-wide competence and wellbeing.


Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

  • NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health (or equivalent).
  • NEBOSH Environmental Management qualification (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in managing Microsoft SharePoint systems to support compliance frameworks.
  • Demonstrable experience in regulatory compliance within a waste, energy, or processing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accredited management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and monitoring tools such as Pirana, EcoOnline, SCADA, and CEMS.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing at all levels.
  • Self-motivated and organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines.
  • Committed to promoting a positive safety culture and continuous improvement ethos.
