Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator to join our clients team working for a growing fit out sub-contractor based in the East Reading area. The Estimator will play a crucial role in assessing project costs and ensuring that all financial aspects of projects are accurately calculated and controlled. This position requires someone with an enthusiastic and committed attitude with strong organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams to deliver precise estimates that align with project goals. Previous experience in estimating in glass partitions / doors / drywall / suspended ceilings.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects by analysing drawings, specifications, and other documentation.
- Collaborate with project managers to gather necessary information for accurate estimating.
- Conduct thorough market research to determine material and labour costs, ensuring competitive pricing.
- Monitor project budgets and implement cost control measures to maintain financial efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor bids, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all estimates, adjustments, and changes throughout the project duration.
- Build relationships and communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams regarding estimates and project requirements.
- Participate in pre-construction handover meetings and post-project evaluations to identify areas for improvement in estimating processes.
- Some travel to project sites required, mainly in London.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Estimator or in a similar role within the construction industry is preferred.
- Strong understanding of cost control principles and practices.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficient in using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) with the ability to interpret specifications and measure drawings.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is advantageous but not essential.
This is a full-time permanent position, paying between £65,000 and £70,000 DOE
